Ask Mary ("the app", "we", "our") is built for parents. This policy explains what data is collected when you use the app, how it is used, and who it is shared with.

Who this app is for

This app is designed for adults (parents and caregivers). It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Data we collect

The app stores your age band preference, bookmarked strategies, and onboarding status locally on your device only. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us.

The following data is collected and transmitted by third-party services the app uses:

  • Usage analytics (in-app) - collected by PostHog to help us understand which scenarios and strategies parents use most. PostHog receives anonymous events such as screens viewed and strategies selected. No personal data is attached. A device-level anonymous identifier is used. Data is held on PostHog servers in the United States. PostHog privacy policy: posthog.com/privacy
  • Website analytics - collected by Google Analytics (GA4) when you visit askmary.com.au. GA4 receives page views, CTA clicks, and UTM attribution parameters to help us understand how visitors find and use the website. No personal data is collected. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
  • Data we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, health data, or any personal information. The app does not require you to create an account.

    Third-party services

We do not sell your data to any third party. We do not use your data for advertising or marketing.

    International data transfers

RevenueCat, Expo, PostHog, and Google Analytics are US-based services. By using the app or visiting askmary.com.au, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States. These services maintain appropriate data protection safeguards.

    COPPA (US users)

Ask Mary is directed at parents and caregivers, not at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

    Data retention

Purchase records held by RevenueCat are retained as financial records in accordance with their privacy policy. Crash logs held by Expo are retained for diagnostic purposes. Local app data stored on your device is deleted when you uninstall the app.

    Your rights

You can request deletion of any data associated with your device by contacting us. For data held by RevenueCat or Expo, you may also contact those services directly.

    Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app adds new features. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
